Book Burning Memorial
'In the center of Bebelplatz, a glass window showing rows and rows of empty bookshelves. The memorial commemorates the night in 1933 when 20,000 “anti-German” books were burned here under the instigation of Goebbels. There's a plaque nearby that says something like “Where they burn books, they will also burn humans in the end.” '
the quote in question is from Heinrich Heine, who - as a Jewish writer critical of Prussian militarism - was one of the authors whose works were burnt.
the most interesting thing, to me, is that Heine said this decades before his work was destroyed, many years before Nazi policies were even a glimmer in Goebbels’s eye.
so in this show i’m watching a dude with superstrength had his powers taken away and he’s facing off against a shapeshifter and he was like, “even without my powers, i’m pretty sure i can kick your ass” and the shapeshifter was like “i’m sure you can” and shapeshifted to look like him and continued “but can you kick YOURS?” and if i were a shapeshifter that’s All I Would Do
